This option is used only when joining two grids by means of the MERGE operation. Normally, in the MOVE/MERGE operation, to save time the editor checks only the existing neighbours of a node when deciding whether a MERGE operation is intended. To use MERGE to establish a new connection between nodes, as is necessary when joining hitherto unconnected parts of a grid, it is necessary to extend the search for possible intended merge candidates to all other nodes in the grid. This can be done by selecting the GRIDMERGE option. When joining is complete, the wide search mode can be toggled off by selecting option GRIDMERGE once more.
